I met Dawn at her show at the SEAD Gallery in Bryan, Texas. I liked her art, but more importantly, I liked her. I asked her to be part of oldartguy.com, and, thankfully, she agreed.

DAWN WINTER

“ The thought of painting never crossed my mind until I visited the galleries located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Although I’ve had an avid interest in architecture and interior design for many years, the thought of actually producing art never occurred to me. While I recognize the appropriate use of perspective and symmetry, etc., myself drawing a stick person figure is enough to produce tears of frustration on my end! So, in 2005, while my mom and I meandered through the galleries along Canyon Road, I increasing became enthralled and intrigued by the paintings. And, surprisingly, I found myself wanting to try my hand at painting.

“Upon returning to Austin, Texas, I found myself purchasing canvases, acrylic paints, mediums, brushes, etc. and began experimenting. I spontaneously entered a Juried Art contest and won third place…my first juried event. That was in 2008.”
