Good Grief

Our country is in trouble, big trouble. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the greatest threat to the nation today is climate change.

Good Grief!!  Does that mean the Defense Department is going to stack its arms, disable all its gasoline and diesel guzzling vehicles, and go out to battle the nonelectric vehicles clogging the roads?

This, of course, is facetious.  Nonetheless, there should be concern that Secretary Austin considers the climate changing like it always does is more of a threat than Iran, Muslim terrorists, the pending merger of Russia and China, and North Korea.

The most troubling aspect of Austin's remark is that it reflects the attitude of the entire President Biden Administration.

For example, there has been no condemnation of Iran for furnishing the 4000+ missiles with which Hamas attacked Israel.  Instead, there is criticism of Israel for attacking the launching pads of those missiles.  The sites were in the midst of homes, schools, and businesses, which is typical of terrorist operations.

Why do Biden and the press never mention or condemn these facts?  Why is it always just a discussion of the number of “innocent” Palestinians killed in the retaliatory strikes?  What about the Israelis killed by the few missiles that do evade the Iron Dome?

Though not directly tied to the Biden Administration, the move by Senator Bernie Sanders and others to prohibit the sale of military equipment like Iron Dome replacements to Israel is beyond belief.

Instead of putting reigns on Israel, the Administration should be tightening the reigns on Iran.

Unfortunately, Biden is doing just the opposite.  He is chomping at the bit to get back to the same water trough as Iran.  He is bargaining to regain entry into the agreement that guarantees Iran's access to nuclear weapons.

To regain entry, he will lift America's sanctions against Iran.  This will unleash the millions or billions of oil reserves now embargoed in Iran.  This will substantially reduce the price of oil and depress American oil and gas production.

The sale of that gusher of oil will swell Iran's bank account with more money to be used to support terrorists around the world like sending 4000 more missiles to Hamas.

Simultaneously, Biden is lifting some sanctions on Russia that had halted the construction of that country' s gas pipeline to Germany. This pipeline will supply all of Germany's natural gas needs and be a blow to our liquified natural gas industry.

When lifting the sanctions on the Russian pipeline, Biden praised the Continental Pipeline at home for being the safest way to transport petroleum products.  He refuses, however, to permit constructing the Keystone Pipeline to transport crude oil from Canada to Texas refineries.

That means the Canadian oil will be transported to Texas by train and truck.  Both of those are subject to accidents that spill thousands of barrels of oil with unimaginable contamination.

So what is the logic of stopping the Keystone Pipeline in mid stride? The only justification offered is that it was one of President Trump's prime projects.

That seems to be the driving force of all of Biden's initiatives. This is particularly true with his foreign policy.

Make America Great Again has been placed on the back burner.  Now it's back to the Obama policy of “Do not look to us for leadership. We just want to be loved.”

So here's the perspective.

The quest for world domination never ends.  The Romans, Genghis Khan, Hitler, and Hirohito are just a few of history’s villains. Today, those seeking world power are the Iranians and Chinese.

Iran is providing weapons and training for Muslim terrorists around the world and is moving rapidly toward becoming a nuclear power.  As soon as it assumes that status, it is threatening to wipe Israel off the earth.

Is that threat less than climate change?

On the other side of the world, China is trying to imitate Japan of the 1930s.  It wants to own, control, or dominate all of the Pacific, including Hawaii.

Is that less of a threat than climate change?

Ask Secretary Austin and President Biden for their answers.
