The year 2019 marked the 50th reunion for the Carbondale Community High School class of 1969. As part of the reunion festivities, Dr. Bob Pankey invited his high school classmates and some others to submit stories about growing up in the small Midwestern college town in the 1950s and '60s. Part reminiscence, part oral history, and part whimsy, the resulting book is a multi-faceted look back at small town America in the middle of the previous century, before smartphones, social media, or even cable TV. The authors of these short stories share their personal recollections while addressing such topics as joy, love, success, family, depression, healing and other universal subjects that will warm the hearts of those who lived in Carbondale as well as those who did not.”  Noel Johnson is sharing a new work with us.
