Wayne Edwards has five new humorous poems this month each related to rabbits...kinda:
“Rabbits” tells how rabbits can multiply but not subtract; “Brussels the Bunny” is the story of a rabbit and how he got his name;
“One Minor De-Tail” is the tale of  how rabbits got their short tails;
“Change” relates how a wife’s improvements of her husband were her downfall.
Here’s one to whet your appetite.

Rabbits

I bought a pair of rabbits
‘Cause I thought it would be fun.
It was in about a month,
I discovered what I’d done.
Well it made my father mad
And it caused my mom to cry.
Seems the rabbits that I bought
Sure knew how to multiply.
If they are so good at math,
Which it looks to be a fact,
Why is it so impossible
To teach them to subtract?
See Wayne’s books in the Bookstore and visit Wayne’s website at familypoet.com and say “Howdy” to him at wayne@familypoet.com.

Night Rider
  by David Carlton

            The moon is up and the cattle rest
            As you slowly make the rounds
            The only thing on a night riders mind
            Is the normal bedding sounds

            The cattle are slowly chewing their cud
            As they lay upon the ground
            You skirt the herd and sing real low
            As you slowly ride around

            In the distance you hear a coyote sing
            His haunted crying song
            You hope he keeps a mile away
            As you slowly ride along

            It doesn’t take much to make them run
            Once they’ve bedded down
            Just about anything out of place
            Can send them all to town

Bill Neinast, columnist for the Brenham Banner Press,
has eight new essays for us:
his essay, “Civics Lessons Needed,” contends that the federal Democrats need to go back to school for some civics lessons;
in “The Cat Fight,” Bill compares a recent Democrat presidential debate to a cat fight; “From Sears to Amazon” is Bill’ history lesson on American merchandizing; in
“Self-Funded...Not So Much” presents a history lesson on Social Security and why Bernie Sanders’ proposals are unworkable;
his essay, “Panic...Really?,” is Bill’s comparison of Bernie Sanders to Rip Van Winkle;
in “The Pandemic and the Economy,” Bill questions whether the extreme measures in the face of the current virus are worth the cost to our economy; “The Pandemic and World War II” is Bill’s comparison of the way in which the nation is reacting to a universal threat today compared to the way we reacted to WWII; in
“COVID-19 and Future Wars,” Bill sees diseases as a possible weapon in the future.
Tell Bill you appreciate him and his writing at
neins1@aol.com.

I have four new essays this month:
“Javelina Yawns”  is an expression of my surprise that a pig can make me yawn;
“Too Dumb to Know” provides scientific varification of what many of us have suspected all along; “Well Done, You Arrogant Bastards” settles the questions surrounding the JFK assacination; and “Inez, Buck, and the Whoop” is a salute to my neighbor, her brother, and his whoop.
Would you believe it---I have a new book, Old Guy: I’m Still Here. My first book was titled Old Guy Has Final Word: It’s All about Me. I put that book together when I was extremely ill and suspected I probably wouldn’t be around long. Well, it turns out that I’m still here and have written over 300 essays.
The selections in this book are just a few that I really like. There is no rhyme or reason for the ones I’ve chosen. They’re a little like the famous box of chocolates: you never know what you’re going to get. I hope ya’ll enjoy them.
By the way, my good friend, John Grant, provided the cover art. Thanks, John.
The book is available at Amazon.

My book, Old Guy Has Final Word, is still available at Amazon I’ve added a Kindle version. My book has been picked up by Barnes and Noble. The book is a collection of essays suitable to be read by both young and old.
