New Writing Stuff.

Marc Lockard passed away last month. His obituary pretty well sums up a life well spent.
Marc was one of the senior students in the first class I taught. He and the other students in that class had a lot to do with my continuing in education for thirty-five years.
Thanks, Marc, for making the world a better place.

Bob Hurt is back with another of his essays. I like Bob’s works because he surprises me with the subjects he chooses and his great writing skills.
Say “Hi”
 to Bob bob@bobhurt.com at and see more of his work at http://bobhurt.com/articles.
This month his essay is “I Am Not a Hatist” in which he examines a subject which seems to have infected much of the world---hate.

Corky Cummings is back with one of his humorous essays, “Country Music, Country Dancing, and Growing Up in a Country Town”
in which Corky muses about growing up in a small Texas town.
Say “Hi” to Corky at ccummings7@cox.net.

Wayne Edwards has five new humorous  poems this month: they’re all related to mail,  mailmen, and email: “Persistence Pays” is the tale of the mailman, Harry; “Mail Order Woman” relates the story of Buford who orders a mail order woman;
“Goodbye Daddy” tells of a little boy’s prayers and how they reveal a big secret;
“Fishermen’s Lies” proves that fishermen can tell big lies; and “E-mail from Hell” relates the importance of properly addressing our emails.
See Wayne’s books in the Bookstore and visit Wayne’s website at familypoet.com and say “Howdy” to him at wayne@familypoet.com.

David Carlton is busy preparing a new book of his poetry for publication, so I’ve included an older poem by David.
The Breakfast Club

Sitting at an outdoor table
This bunch of aging gents

Talking politics and world affairs
Both Prosecutor and Defense

They solve the world’s problems
As they’re brought before the table

Silver haired men with steel trap minds
Who are capable and able

Sitting at the Tiki Bar
This aging group of gents

Taking time to lend their thoughts
And their justice to dispense

Their hair is thin and their waist has grown
But their brains are working fine

They solve the problems of the world
One bottle at a time

Michael O’Brien’s essay this
month is “...People Come into Our Lives...” in which he remembers a friend who took his own life leaving Michael with lifetime of questions.

Bill Neinast, columnist for the Brenham Banner Press,
has four new essays for us this month:
“What a Shame” is Bill’s lament that parents don’t have a better message for their kids than to be afraid of police officers;
“Time’s Up” suggests that Mueller should wrap up the special council investigation; “Trouble” is a reminder of what can happen when the American people overeacte to a threat; in “Pro-Lifers or Anti-Abortionists?,” Bill questions the sincerity of those opposing abortion.
Tell Bill you appreciate him and his writing at
neins1@aol.com.

E ugene Miller is back with a great essay on Louisiana Governor Earl Long. His essay, “Louisiana Governor Goes Crazy,” gives a brief history of “Uncle Earl” and Gene’s personal interactions with him.
Say “Hi” to Gene at gene.betty@gmail.com.

This month I have four new essays:
“My Reality” probably doesn’t match your reality...but, so?; “Uncle Earl” is my recollections of a politician who makes President Trump look like a choir boy; “I’ve Run Out of Stories” is my admission that I might have run out of stories; and “Dollar General Cometh” is a sign of how far I’ll go to find entertainment in a small town.”
My book, Old Guy Has Final Word, is still available at Amazon I’ve added a Kindle version. My book has been picked up by Barnes and Noble. The book is a collection of essays suitable to be read by both young and old.
