Bob Pankey has published a collection of his stories, Short Stories from Texas and Beyond.
The description of the book on Amazon is as follows:
“This volume of short stories was written while Dr. Bob Pankey lived in Texas and the Midwest, particularly Illinois and Missouri. It speaks to those interested in sports, relationships, family and life in general in the mind of the author. Pankey grew up in Carbondale, a small college town in Southern Illinois. After having some successful years in sports, he went to the University of Missouri on an NCAA scholarship and played as a quarterback and defensive safety before graduating in 1973. These stories mainly reflect the life that Pankey experienced as a kid and family man. Pankey became a professor and served over 44 years in teaching while in Texas. He retired from Higher Education in 2017 and is now a full-time artist being represented in three art galleries throughout the Southwest.”

Wayne Edwards has five new humorous poems this month---all
about fish and fishing: “Ugly Fish” recounts Wayne’s encounter with an ugly fish; “Fishing Trip” tells of how a husband’s change of plans led to a startling relevation;
“What Fish?” relates how old Jake outsmarts the game warden once again;
“Fishermen’s Lies” is a confrontation between Old Jake and a mailman in a fish lying contest; and “Fishing Date” tells how a little boy’s fishing date ended in disappointment.
See Wayne’s books in the Bookstore and visit Wayne’s website at familypoet.com and say “Howdy” to him at wayne@familypoet.com.

David Carlton doesn’t have a new poem for us this month, but I’d like to take this moment to thank him for the many great poems he has contributed over the past few years. See David’s poetry at The Poetry of David Carlton.
Say “Howdy” to David at dcarlton@tamu.edu

Michael O’Brien’s essay this month is “Life Comes to Brook Hollow” which relates Michael’s experiences resulting from a hurricane.

Bill Neinast, columnist for the Brenham Banner Press,
has four new essays for us this month:
“The Law Is the Law” suggests that we are losing our natural respect for laws;
“Honest Donald” is Bill’s analysis that regardless of what we may think of the man, Donald Trump, he has been trying to fulfill his campaign promises; in “Stuck in the Swamp” relies on Bill’s military experience to conclude that draining the swamp is almost impossible; and “Why?” in which Bill asks a lot of questions about our present political scene.
Tell Bill you appreciate him and his writing at
neins1@aol.com.

This month I have four new essays:
“Bret Harte” takes a look back at an American author that is seldom mentioned today; “Spoons” is the recounting of an odd evening at the old Country Inn; “Saki” reminds the readers of a British author you’ll surely recall from your time in high school; “Afterlife” takes a look at the beliefs of various religions regarding what happens after we die.
My book, Old Guy Has Final Word, is still available at Amazon. I’ve added a Kindle version. The book is a collection of essays suitable to be read by both young and old.
Tell me how much you hate my writing at oldjwpinkerton@gmail.com and take a look at my bio page: John Pinkerton.
