PAUL HORD

The name is Paul Henry Hord, born in 1971 in Popular Bluff, Missouri.  I moved around quite a bit as a child, but eventually settled as a teenager in Laguna Park, Texas, a small village on Lake Whitney.  I graduated from Clifton High School, Clifton, Texas in 1990.  From there, I attended Tarleton State University and received a B.A. in History in 1995.  From there, I miraculously landed in Somerville, Texas and somehow ended up teaching Spanish at the high school there for five years.

While in Somerville, I happened to meet Roxane Fritsche, the daughter of the high school secretary, the world’s greatest secretary and now mother-in-law.  Roxane and I married in 1998 and eventually moved to the Bryan/College Station area.  I went to graduate school at Prairie View A&M University and received an MA in Counseling in 2000 and my principal certification in 2005.  Since having left Somerville ISD in 2000, I have worked as a counselor and principal in Bryan schools and am currently one of the counselors at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station.

Roxane and I have two children, Emily, age 8, and Matthew, age 6.  Roxane is also a school counselor at an elementary school in College Station.  We have a nice schedule and spend much of our time off traveling to new adventures around the country.  I spend a lot of time coaching my kids in their youth sports activities.

From time to time, I pick up a golf club with the hope of breaking 90 on 18 holes, and then I come back to reality.  Golf is a good game.  As I’ve become older, I enjoy also spending a lot of time in the kitchen, trying to prepare something fabulous that I have just watched an Iron Chef prepare on the Food Network.  I’m absolutely addicted to following sports (no offense, I don’t do hockey) and I don’t look forward to the dog days of summer without football and basketball.  I pick up a fishing pole from time to time as well, except now primarily as an observer, to ensure that my children don’t hook each other in the ear.
