Charlie stepped out of the turbo-lift on the bridge where he was glad to see Captain Kirk seated in his customary command chair. Charlie spoke:

"Captain Kirk, it's me Charlie Evans. Is it okay for me to be on the bridge?"

Kirk rotated his chair to get a look at Charlie. He could see Charlie was grinning from ear to ear, but for what reason was unknown to him:

"Sure Charlie it's always okay to have you on the bridge. What can I do for you today?"

Charlie replied:

"I have something important to tell you and Mr. Spock!"

Kirk replied:

“Okay, Charlie! Mr. Spock, will you give Charlie your attention for a moment?"

Spock stopped what he was doing and came to stand next to the Captain's chair.

"Well, Charlie, what do you have to say to me and Mr. Spock?"

"Things are different now, Sir. Last might Janice and I...well I better not say...but it made things different. I have decided to help you fight Gary Mitchell, even though I still don't know how to fight using my powers. Maybe you guys have some good ideas what I can try in a fight? Like I told Janice last night I am a fast learner and a good student."

Kirk knew just what to say because for the past three weeks on the run after Charlie came aboard, his senior staff and himself had already documented a dozen good tactics in regard to what would be a psychic battle between two humans with godlike powers. Spock had also calculated probabilities for success if Charlie tried to use those tactics for psychic warfare. Spock replied:

"I can inform you, now that you have agreed to help us fight Gary Mitchell, that the Captain, myself, and the senior staff have devised various tactics and strategies for psychic warfare between two such individuals like yourself and Gary Mitchell. You are free to familiarize yourself with our ideas and utilize them when the time comes when we must confront Gary Mitchell and the rogue Federation starships he commands."

Charlie looked relieved:

"Gee, thanks, Mr. Spock. I have a lot to learn about fighting with my powers. Actually I've been thinking about what to do for that myself and I have some of my own ideas that might help me beat Gary Mitchell."

Spock handed Charlie a small, yellow, square duotronic diskette:

"You will find all our tactical and strategical ideas on this disk. There is a monitor and slot for the disk in your quarters and in the ship's recreation room and library and sickbay beds. I am sure one of those will work for you if you wish to familiarize yourself with these tactics and strategies."

Charlie took the disk from Mr. Spock:

"Thanks, Mr. Spock. I will look at this right now back in my quarters! See you guys later when I am done and we can all talk about what I can try."

Charlie got inside the turbo-lift and departed. Spock was still standing next to Captain Kirk's command chair:

"I am curious, Jim. I wonder what made Charlie Evans change his mind and agree to help us fight Gary Mitchell?"

Kirk motioned for Spock to come a bit closer to his. Then Kirk whispered into Spock's ear:

"I can tell why Spock! S...E...X! Sex! It's the world's greatest persuader! Remind me to give Janice Rand a pat on the back the next time I see her!"

Spock raised one eyebrow, but failed to comment, but even as an emotionless Vulcan, who mates only once every seven years during the blood fever Pon-Farr, he understood Jim Kirk's point and it was well taken by him.
