Will It Never End?
Here is a heads up so you will not be too surprised. In the near future you will see a headline and short piece like this in the news media:
MORE PROOF OF COLLUSION
A White House spokesperson, who requested anonymity, reported that Russian toilet paper is being used in all of the bathrooms and toilets in the White House. As soon as this news broke, White House maids were observed scurrying about the house with bundles of American made Charmin toilet tissue prominently displayed.
For example, Kellyanne Conway is the current villain in Democrats’ eyes. She is counselor to the President and is accused of violating the Hatch Act.
According to Wikipedia, “The 1939 [Hatch] Act forbids the intimidation or bribery of voters and restricts political campaign activities by federal employees. It prohibits using any public funds designated for relief or public works for electoral purposes. It forbids officials paid with federal funds from using promises of jobs, promotion, financial assistance, contracts, or any other benefit to coerce campaign contributions or political support. It provides that persons below the policy-making level in the executive branch of the federal government must not only refrain from political practices that would be illegal for any citizen, but must abstain from ‘any active part’ in political campaigns, using this language to specify those who are exempt;
-
i.an employee paid from an appropriation for the Executive Office of the President….”
Although the Act exempts military personnel from its provisions, a Department of Defense directive applies essentially the same restrictions on military personnel. Under that directive, political activity like posting political signs on poste or even bumper stickers on automobiles registered on posts are prohibited.
The Act specifically exempts employees paid from an appropriation for the Executive Office of the President. As it is reasonable to assume that a Counselor to the President is paid from funds appropriated for his office, it seems that Conway is not prohibited from political activities.
Realistically, it could not be any other way. Every word spoken by a White House employee, particularly in answer to questions from the media could be considered political. That would effectively cut the media off from the White House.
The initial complaint against Conway was that she had endorsed a Republican candidate for the Senate in some state. For some reason, the brouhaha over this latest chink in our President has subsided.
Maybe someone has been able to push through the tears of the Democrats enough to get some of them to realize that most American voters are tired of the investigations of investigations.
We want the Congressmen to read the Mueller Report that has been released to them. Then it would be nice if they would acknowledge that the conclusions of no collusion and not enough evidence to support charges of obstruction were based on all the evidence, including those limited portions that were redacted in accordance with applicable law.
So here’s the perspective.
As crazy as this sounds, I hope Nancy Pelosi keeps letting her men and women who are supposed to be representing the people continue down the road they are on.
As irritating as it is, keep on investigating, investigating, and investigating. Keep on talking about impeachment. Keep on dissecting and disagreeing with every statement and policy from the White House; keep on ignoring the disaster at our southern border.
Keep it up Nancy. Every additional step in that direction shoves more voters into the Republican camp.
Preferably, however, it would be so nice to see the Congress legislating instead of investigating.
