You’re a Jet

Aaron Rodgers, you know, the longtime quarterback of Green Bay and recent transfer to the New York Jets, recently announced that he started taking the  plant-based psychedelic drug ayahuasca in Peru in 2020.  He claims the drug helped him to produce his best seasons, and then he said, “I don't really believe in coincidences at this point. It's the universe bringing things to happen when they're supposed to happen."

He went on to say, "To me one of the core tenets of mental health is self-love and that's what ayahuasca did for me."

It would have probably been a good idea for him to end the interview at this point, but, no, he added, “I had a magical experience with the sensation of feeling a hundred different hands on my body, imparting a blessing of love and forgiveness for myself and gratitude for this life, from what seemed to be my ancestors.”  Wow!

If you're sitting on your front porch wondering what the heck ayahuasca is, you're not alone.  Well, it's my understanding that it's a hallucinogen originating in South America often used in religious rituals.  It is classified as a Schedule 1 drug along  with LSD, and ecstasy.  In other words, it's illegal in the US, and it's banned by the NFL, but Rodgers took the drug in Peru where it's legal.

Some medical folks say ayahuasca can have benefits, but all agree it can be dangerous.

Frankly, I've noticed some changes in Rodgers in the last few years.  He seems to want to present a cooler, grungier physical appearance, and I've definitely felt that he's wanted to go to Hollywood in his home state and become a movie star.

My advice to Aaron is make a lot of trips to Peru for doses of ayahuasca because, Mr. Cool, you're now a New York Jet.  Good luck.
