Do Aliens Have a Sense of Humor

John W. Pinkerton

I watch a lot of shows about the possibilities that aliens are and have been visiting the Earth for a long time.  I actually enjoy watching these programs most of which have pretty high production values.

There is a lot of conjecture about where the aliens originate, what powers their crafts, what they look like, and their objectives.

Those are all good questions, but they don't blow my skirt up.

The single most important question that I would like answered about the aliens is do they have a sense of humor.

Yeah, you probably have never considered this question, but think about it.  Have you ever had to work with folks or be in social setting with folks who have no sense of humor?  It's a nightmare.  They're damn near impossible to be around.

If they don't have a sense of humor, they're probably PC.  Crap, figuring out what is PC in the aliens' experiences would be a nightmare.

Are they the kind of folks who aim to save the world?  Careful there Bozo.  Maybe they would want to save the world by eliminating you.  After all, according to a lot of naive folks, man is evil and killing the Earth.

A good question is do they want to live among us, or, if their numbers are significant, do they want us to live among them?

Now that brings up more questions.  Do they want their own restrooms?  How do they feel about pets?  Will they be sports fans?  Would they prefer urban or rural areas?  Of course, I'd like to know if they would like our political parties and if they have their own political parties?  Are they drinkers and what might they prefer if they are?  What foods, if any at all, will they prefer?---which brings up an ugly thought: maybe folks are on their menus.

Frankly, I'm really not interested in the means of propulsion for their crafts or even where they came from or how long they've been visiting us.  The number one question should be, “Do they have a sense of humor?”

Being that I consider myself a funny old fellow, if they have a sense of humor, welcome aboard.
