Janice and Kirk weren't surprised when Charlie suddenly stepped forward to hug Janice. Then he realized he had forgotten his manners and let her go to take a few steps back:

"Captain Kirk! You're here, too! I never thought I would ever see either of you again! Can you imagine my thrill?"

Kirk stuck out his hand to shake his with Charlie's, but Charlie didn't know what to do at first until he remembered the gesture of greeting Kirk had taught him so many years ago. Charlie was visibly very excited:

"Have you two come to get me? Please tell me you're both here to come get me!"

Kirk and Janice were both glad to find Charlie in a jovial mood and also because he didn't seem upset or mad when he found them there outside his house. Kirk was thinking fast on his feet what to say next:

"Yes, Charlie you are right. Janice and I came here to get you!"

Charlie did his best to try and calm down:

"Okay, that's great Jim! But why now?  I have lived here alone the over 20 years and you two never came to visit me! Why didn't you come visit me?"

Janice knew what to say next:

"We couldn't come visit you even if we wanted to Charlie. After what happened when you came on board the Enterprise, and the Thasians took you back to Thasus, Starfleet quarantined your planet, and it was strictly off limits."

Charlie frowned because he knew why that was true:

"They were afraid of me, weren't they? You two were both afraid of me also after what I did, isn't that so?"

Kirk replied:

"Yes, Charlie we were afraid of you."

Charlie smiled:

"But if you're here now to come get me doesn't that mean you're not afraid of me anymore? Has Starfleet lifted the quarantine?"

Kirk was ready with a careful reply.

"To be honest with you we have no idea what Starfleet thinks, and they have no idea we came here to get you."

Charlie frowned again.

"If they knew they wouldn't have let you, right?"

Kirk replied:

"Probably not, Charlie. But we have a more important reason for coming here to find you."

Charlie perked up:

"I can see it in your mind, Captain Kirk, and in yours, Janice. Something bad has happened and you two came here to ask me for help, isn't that true?"

Janice replied:

"Yes Charlie, that's true. We need your help desperately, and that's why we decided to come find you even though it's not allowed and when we still didn't know if we needed to be afraid of you or not."

Charlie smiled and patted Janice's shoulder:

"Oh, you guys don't need to be afraid of me anymore. The Thasians have taught me the difference between right and wrong, even though being stuck on Thasus all alone, there isn't actually anybody else for me to be wrong to."

Kirk had to ask the obvious next good question:

"Charlie, I have to ask you something important. Please tell me if the Thasians let you keep your godlike powers or not."

Charlie smiled:

"I still have all my powers, Captain. And they have gotten much stronger now. I can do lots of things if I think about it, but there are some things I wish I could do that I can't do, like create other people for company, or to create a spaceship to leave Thasus in. Creating life is forbidden and I can't create complicated technology like a spaceship because I can only create what I can imagine. I don't know anything about technology. The record tapes about technology on the crashed ship I came here in with my parents, who died in the crash with the others, were destroyed also. I was only able to learn simple things from the record tapes and the Thasians have no need for technology at all. Can you guess about some of the things I can do now?"

Kirk replied:

"Like what for example?"

Charlie smiled:

"Watch this!"
