Corky and Patti
I was born in Brenham, Texas in 1950 and lived the first 20 years of my life in Somerville. After graduating from SHS, I attended Blinn Jr. College for one semester and then transferred to Texas A&M where I “studied” for 1 1/2 years. Unfortunately I didn’t study as much as I should have, and in order to continue at A&M, I would have needed approximately a 6.9 GPA the next semester to stay enrolled. Since this appeared to be an uphill battle, I transferred to Sam Houston State University and became a little more focused on my academic career. I graduated in 1972 with a BBA degree.
After SHSU I started working in the savings and loan industry in Houston where I was fortunate enough to meet my wife Patti. We were married in 1973 and moved to California in 1975. I spent most of my career in the mortgage industry and have been retired since 2012. Patti spent 37 years with the Paramount Unified School District and retired in 2011. We live in San Clemente, California and have 2 grown kids and 4 grandchildren who are all near us. We enjoy the time we have with them and also traveling in our motorhome with our dog Boomer.
To me, laughter is one of the biggest keys to a fun and happy life. I enjoy writing humor, especially about my grandchildren and my own personal experiences. Hopefully the readers of John’s website will get a chuckle or two and be able to relate to some of the things I write about in their own lives.
